At the foot of Stara Planina, on the main road to Pirot, lies a gem of unique beauty: Bigar waterfall. At the well-maintained picnic area right next to the waterfall, you can enjoy the forest of waterfalls cascading over the 35-meter-high rock (bigar), from which it got its name.
Upstream from the waterfall is a unique natural attraction, several smaller waterfalls in the riverbed, and three small lakes with crystal-clear water. These limestone ponds, with their intensely blue-green color, are not only a true gem of Stara Planina's nature but also have water so pure that it can be drank.
Due to its well-maintained picnic area near the road and right next to the waterfall, this place is often a stopover for numerous nature lovers.
