Stara planina, on its slopes, hides numerous villages, picnic spots, springs, caves and monasteries. It offers a perfect getaway with adrenaline, fun, and various hiking, skiing, and cycling tours, while on the other hand, it provides peace and tranquility characteristic of bygone times in the surrounding villages with authentic architecture and landscapes.

In addition to private accommodation, visitors can stay at the Stara planina tourist center, Hotel "Babin zub," or the Mountaineering Lodge. Winter sports enthusiasts have access to 13 km of groomed ski slopes: Jabučko ravnište, Babin zub, Rudine, Sunčana dolina, and Konjarnik, with corresponding ski lifts - gondolas, quad chairs, ski lifts, and a conveyor belt in the children's park. If you visit in the summer, besides walking on well-maintained paths, you can enjoy a panoramic gondola ride.

Stara planina stretches from Zaječar, through Knjaževac and Pirot to Dimitrovgrad, and then under the name Balkan Mountain almost to the Black Sea, covering a distance of about 550 km. The highest peak of Stara planina is Midžor (2,169 m).

How to Get There:

If you're coming from Belgrade, we recommend the route via the highway to Niš, then through Svrljig and Kalna to Stara planina.
