Follow in the footsteps of the IV Flavian and VII Claudian legions. Timacum Minus (Lower Timok), an archaeological site near Knjaževac, represents the oldest military fortress in the Timok region. Archaeological excavations at the site have confirmed continuous habitation from prehistory to the Middle Ages, with the peak of development recorded in ancient times when this place was an important mining and metallurgical center.
Discovered epigraphic monuments at the site indicate the presence of the Timacum Minus garrison. Inscriptions testify to the presence of soldiers from the IV Flavian and VII Claudian legions, the I cohort of Thracians from Syria, the I cohort of Montanori from Recia and Noricum, as well as the presence of the II cohort of Dardanians.
The collection of monuments from the Ravna fortress is exhibited in the lapidarium of the Archeo-Ethno Park Ravna. Within the fortress itself, two structures have been explored - cursiv and a circular structure in the northeastern corner. Southwest of the fortress, there is a public bath with a preserved heating system - hypocaust. North and south of the fortress, remains of a civilian settlement have been discovered. Archaeological research of this area has revealed the existence of buildings from the II - III century.
